E-journal post #2 - Unit 6 (Importance of place in a movie or book)

                  Bombs for independence

Have you ever heard the old name of the Seoul that was used in the period of Japanese occupation? Gyeong Sung is very important element of the movie a secret agent because it’s movie shows historical events that occurred in Korea. Most of the resistance for independence were armed resistance using bombs but not all of them liked this idea. The head of the secret agent take a firm stand and he believed even though they fail they have to proceed.

As you may agree Gyeongsung is a very important element of the movie a Secret Agent because it's movie shows historical events in Korea. A war crime committed by Japanese imperialism, Korea was under governed by Japan for 35 years. For a period of Japanese imperialism, many fighters for independence have died of gruesome tortures in prisons.  Nowadays we cannot even imagine how they were tortured and their pains that made them to die long before now. The torture was inhumane for example at the very small toilet fence with iron bars, they put 100 people and they set fire, using ropes they hang people upside down for all day long, using thorn tree they prick the skin underneath a nail and female fighters were tortured sexually. We are still preserving prison called Seodaemun Prison. I've also visited when I was a schoolchild, it's emotionally very painful to watch displayed terrible instruments of torture.

As I mentioned first part of the journal, many fighters for independence believed that armed protest is the only way to get out of the Japanese occupation in this movie. So they carry bombs by train from China, under close observation by Japanese police.   All you can see from the title of movie, the secret agents who betrayed have inform to the Japanese police. So the main members of independence fight were arrested. They have died of gruesome torture but one man, member of independence fight, he also got caught by Japanese police but after he had concealed bombs they have carried. So the fight for independence could carry on by the rest of the members. It killed main members of Japanese imperialism and our nation could show the world that we are against this imperialism.

What if there were no sacrifice that our people dedicated for independence throwing away their precious life? We could’ve been called as Japanese losing our Korean identity. To conclude a Secret Agent could not be set in another city. Only the city of Seoul can show the strike against Japanese occupation.

E-journal post #1 - Unit 5 (Geotourism)

Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea- the beggining of the geotourism in Korea

This is the mascots of Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea. On the left side of picture it's name is Yeony and Suny , the motif was plankton and characterized it into Yeony and Suny. On the other side it's a symbol consist of 3 color, on the top of the symbol it's red color stands for living things that lives on the land , green parts stands for environment that coexist with living things and blue color stands for pure and clean ocean.  The Yeosu Expo was held in Korea in 2012 and 105 nation  and 10 internation organization participated . As you can imagine from the mascots and symbol you will definitely know that it stands for geotourism.

스카이타워
First of all when you arrive at the Yeosu station you can hear some sort of organ sound. You may wonder where the sound came from. As you look straight forward to it you can see a tower which is called 'Sky Tower'. Guess what! This tower is made up with abandoned cement storage which is 67m long. On the external walls of this tower, there is an pipe organ  called Vox maris which means 'sounds of the ocean' . This pipe sounds like boat horn and you can hear the sound from 6km away from this . I think it's a brilliant idea to make huge organ with abandoned cement storage. It's sound is so beautiful and make you to start  pleasant tour.

Secondly you can still experience things that was held in 2012. It has energy park which you can simply watch and also particiate in. For the energy park, you can experience about producing principles of energy and it's sunlight generator is also possible to supply electric power to 700 house at the same time where you can experience recycle rocket, maze game, wated cannon using bicycle and you can ride electronic bus. There's also some experiments that you can catch fish at the mini farm. This kinds of experiment leads people to understand more about works in the ocean. To protect something I think that it's important to know first and then you search for the solution.

I visited Yeosu this summer I liked it so much but when I was traveling I didn't realized that Yeosu stands for geotourism but as I started to search and write this I feel sure about this. Through this Expo Yeosu became famous city for sightseeing city and this also leads local people to work at here so they can make money through this. Also it has increased  the use of local food. It's really delicious and I beg you to eat once. You will never forgot the taste of the food. and finally the used of the recycle things was the best part of Yeosu. I really suggest you to visit Yeosu on your free time.

Introducing Myself

Hello guys I’m Ryeonghui. It’s too late to say hello but  anyway I will spend times with you guys rest of the semester. I’m 2nd grade majoring English Literature . I’m 21years old. I was born in Seoul but most of my childhood  I spent time in Hanam. there’s not much to tell about me so I will tell you guys about where I live so that you guys can easily understand my current life. I think that many of you  haven’t heard of Hanam but when you want to go Seoul you have to go through the Hanam IC. I think hanam is very pleasant city to live which is not that developed and not that lagged behind.
When I first came to Hanam , I was only 11years old  and I thought this city is so lagged behind but as I got older I started to love here so much. I would say Hanam represents the city , coexist with nature and developed city. Our city  just get started to build subway this year which is the last stop of the line number 5 and the construction will be completed in 2020. We have to get bus first if you want to go somewhere and then you can take subway. It’s very harsh process even though I go through this everyday about 2 years.
Recently the Sinsegae Department Store opened a new store in Hanam . We didn’t have any of big shopping mall like this before. You may have seen this advertise at the subway. Before it’s opening I wouln’t recommend you to come here but since the Sinsegae Department Stored is opened , I think it’s worth to come here once. If you have time and ask me to go with , I will happily guide you hanam.
